Beauty Find-Hair and Scalp Treatment

Thanks to the magic of the internet we have discovered a great treatment for your scalp and hair. The results are stronger, healthier and very silky hair.

Ingredients are:

4Tbs 100% Pure Sweet almond oil
8 drops of Pure peppermint oil
Squirt bottle of warm water
Wide tooth comb.

It feels amazing on your scalp!

After my treatment I braided my hair and put it in a bun. Then I covered it with a terry cloth Turbie twist to protect my pillow.

This morning I washed my hair and now the texture is very silky and my hair shines!

Beauty Gift- Benefit Real Mascara

This month was my birthday and because of this I received a free gift from Sephora. My gift contained a very pricey mascara by Benefit called Real it also came with a Watts Up Luminizer/Highlighter. I will post about it at a later date. I was so excited about receiving this gift. I still am because I was able to give it to my sister and she loves it.

Yesterday we both decided to give it a try. I am not so crazy about it. To me it was clumpy and I really don't enjoy the little spikes at the tip. Needless to say this was not my favorite mascara.

However it may work for some of you because not all lashes are created equal. Carrie loves it and I agree it looked great on her lashes. After applying it to my lashes I turned to Carrie and handed her the tube of mascara. She was so excited. I am glad that she enjoys it and that it won't go to waste.

As I said previously this is a pricey mascara the price of a full size tube is $23. If you don't mind taking a risk then go for it. It might just work for you. If not then I don't really recommend it.

Natural Beauty Product-Aztec Indian Healing Clay

The name says it all with this fantastic product.

Wow! Have we had fun with this find. Carrie and I both enjoy YouTube tutorials. This particular gem is something that we learned on YouTube. Like any product we post though, we always try it ourselves before we share it with you. So far all the things we have shared we really like and we have a few more up our sleeves we just want to give them adequate time testing before we post them,

This Aztec clay is amazing! I cannot say enough good things about it. It tightens your skin, clears acne, diminishes and cleans out your pores. It is also good for bug bites. I purchased this clay at a Sprouts store on Ray Rd. in Chandler. A 1 pound container is only $6.99. In my opinion that is a very good deal. 

As with any of the products we post test it on a small patch of skin first to check for any possible allergies. Some things to know about this healing clay. Less is more. The more you pack it on the longer it takes to dry. If you apply this mask with others be for warned extreme laughter will follow the application. If it is too thick it will just crumble off into your sink. 

For one person you want to mix 1 Tbs clay with 1 1/2 Tbs apple cider vinegar. If its too thick add a little bit more apple cider vinegar. You want it to be like a thick paste. Apply all over your face and don't forget your neck as well. You want your neck to look as youthful as your face. Once you apply the clay all over your face and neck you let it dry for 10-15 mins.

Remember this is clay and it drys hard. Once dry, take a warm wash cloth and hold it on your face to soften the clay. This will make it a little easier to come off. Once your skin is completely clean turn on your faucet and rinse your clean face with cold water. This will help to close up those now clean pores. Pat your face dry and then moisturize it. We use coconut oil for this step. There is a possibility that your face and neck become red after removing the clay. Not to worry this goes away quickly especially with the coconut oil application. You will be left with soft tight glowing skin!

I have to say that Sephora delivers with this product. Sephora claims that this stain will last for a long time. That statement is completely true for me. I had this particular color on all day and did not ever have to reapply it.

The lip stain has a creamy texture that feels silky on your lips. I recommend that you let it dry for a few minutes before sipping your coffee or soda. Sephora currently has ten different shades for you to choose from. With all those choices you are bound to find the right one for you.  If  this color is too bold for you there nine other shades to choose from including my all time favorite color 01 Always Red. 

I absolutely LOVE the Sephora Lip Stain line. The cost is $12.00 per tube but a little goes a long way and in my opinion it is worth every penny. I am not one for spending a lot on cosmetics but, if I find something that works really well I will spend a little more. This lip stain can be purchased at Sephora online or your nearest Sephora store.

We wanted to share this Beauty find with you because like everything we have posted so far we LOVE it! The great thing about this blush is the added sparkle. Unlike some blush products or even eye shadows the glitter is throughout the entire compact. With every swipe of your brush there is that added sparkle. 

The color is absolutely gorgeous and the pigment is fantastic. It can go on as sheer or as dark as you want it to. If you like a darker blush just swipe on a little more. I enjoy it so much that it's a staple color for me. 

Like all E.L.F. products this one is very affordable at only $3.00. For that price you could buy a couple of their other colors or an extra Fuchsia Fusion so you always have one on hand.

Natural Beauty Products-Turmeric

Don't you just love YouTube tutorials? I know that we do! They are always great for teaching you something new. Great tips and tricks to make our lives a little easier and our skin a little healthier.

Our latest find gives us all a little extra help with pesky fine lines and dark circles. We have found that the spice Turmeric works great. You can either make a thin mix with buttermilk or mix it with coconut oil. Smooth it gently under your eyes and then rinse it off thoroughly.    

You might want to wear gloves with this one Beauties the Turmeric can stain your nails yellow.

As with any of our natural product finds please try them on a small patch of skin to test for allergies first.

Beauty Find-BH Cosmetics 120 Color Eye Shadow Palette

As you can tell by our blog my sisters and I love experimenting with different brands, colors, and types of makeup. This particular look was achieved by using an eye shadow palette from BH cosmetics. This is the 120 color 2nd edition palette. 

I chose it because of the variety of colors. It has both matte and shimmer so you get the best of both worlds. BH Cosmetic eye shadows have really good pigment and the color lasts a long time.

In this picture my sister chose light purple, dark purple, and black. To finish the look she used the NYX purple roll on shimmer shadow we posted about in June.

Health Find-Skinny Shake

Sometimes when something is "healthy" for you it does not taste very good. That is not always the case and this skinny shake is the exception to the rule. I discovered this delicious drink the other day thanks to a post by my Aunt on Facebook. I was pleasantly surprised and thought I would share it with all of you.

The skinny shake makes a great breakfast drink or anytime drink for that matter. The ingredients can all be found at your local grocery store. Some of you may already have everything required to make it in your home.

Below you will find the recipe. I changed it up a bit by using chocolate almond milk and adding a little bit of honey. You could also use vanilla if you prefer.

Skinny Shake

3/4 cup Almond Milk
about 15 ice cubes
1/2 tsp Vanilla
1-2 Tbsp unsweetened Cocoa powder
1/3 of a Banana

I really enjoy finding unique things whether it is an item of clothing, shoes, cosmetics, or in this case, nail polish. While walking through the isles at Walmart I discovered this really unique polish by Maybelline. It's called Color Show Polka Dots and the color is Clearly Spotted 75. This particular version of it goes on clear with all the fun little dots so you can paint it over a color of your choice and it gives your nails a sort of 3D effect.

As my base coat I chose hot pink from Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails Collection because hot pink is one of my 3 favorite colors. The name on the bottle is Love Rocks 320. I really enjoy the brightness of the color, how easy the polish goes on and how quickly it dries.The polka dots are a fun unique touch and they come in five different colors. The dots themselves are all the same color in every bottle.

Maybelline's Color Show Polka Dots sell for only $2.97 a bottle at your local Walmart it can also be found at Ulta, Target, and I am sure several other stores. Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails can be found at the same stores but the price at Walmart is only $1.97. That is a great bargain and it goes on better than a lot of higher priced nail polish.

Our latest find is an As Seen on TV product. You know those late night infomercials that a lot of us get caught up watching..LOL (You know that you do, we all do sometimes.)  This particular product was found by our mom and it really works. Normally when a person brushes tangled hair there can be some pulling through the tangles and more often than not some hair casualties. 

With this brush there is a lot less hair loss and it slides through your hair very easily. My daughter has a sensitive head and she did not complain once when I brushed her hair with it. The company states that the reason for less hair loss and breakage is due to the unique distribution of 428 bristles that vary in height. I am quite pleased with this product as it does what it claims.

The brush comes in three different colors that are color coded for a particular type of hair; blue for thick, green for normal, and pink for fine. The price is a little high for a brush at $14.99 but with these results it may just be worth it. 

On their website you can buy one and get one free plus s/h, so maybe go halves with a friend and split the cost. Our mom purchased hers for $14.99 at Bed Bath and Beyond and she absolutely loves it!

We have discovered through many sources (one being our sister Stephanie) that this little tube of chafing powder works for more than what the company is selling it. Believe it or not the gel is a great primer for your face and a little goes a long way. Once applied it makes a great base for your foundation. It smooths your skin while minimizing your pores and keeps your foundation in place. 

The quality of this particular gel can be compared to many other higher priced primers like Smash Box, which sells for $36.00. Soothing Care only costs $5.98 and can be purchased at Walmart, Target, Walgreen's...etc. 

Don't take our word for it, try it for yourself. With any new product try it on a little spot on your face to test it first for any possible allergies before applying it all over.

On a previous post titled The Great Mascara Debate we asked all of you what your favorite mascara was. At the time of the post we did not have a preference. In fact we were using 2-3 different ones to achieve the look that we desired.

After trying several different mascaras we now have a current favorite. As you can see from the picture our current choice is Maybelline Lots of Lashes from their great lash collection and the color is black.

This mascara is fanfrickentastic (my word) it goes on very easily and it only takes 2 coats of mascara to have beautiful lashes. After trying it once I was thoroughly surprised because it covered well and my lashes looked longer than normal. 

I kept telling Carrie, "Look at my lashes" I was amazed at what this mascara did for them. We were so impressed with it that we introduced our mom to it. She is now using Lots of Lashes and she loves it just as much as we do
. 
The brush is unique because it tapers down which allows you to get even the tiniest lashes. You know the ones that you might normally miss. The tapered end is also great for your bottom lashes and no clumping. 

Seeing is believing when it comes to Maybelline's Lots of Lashes so try it for yourself. Not only is it a great mascara but the price is reasonable as well at only $3.97 at your local Walmart. You don't always have to spend a small fortune to get a quality product.

Stephanie's Introduction and Makeover

Stephanie's Introduction and Makeover

We would first like to introduce you to our gorgeous sister Stephanie. She will be joining us on our blog and Facebook page. Stephanie will be contributing with her vast knowledge of hair. We are so excited to have her join us.

Today we decided to give Stephanie a makeover for her official welcome to Beauty Sisters and share it with all you Beauties. To prepare her transformation I primed her face using L'Oreal BB cream in medium and a stippling brush. Once the BB cream was applied I used Revlon colorstay 24hr foundation and for the finishing touch, Maybelline Shine Free loose powder in light.

For the next step Carrie did her eyebrows because she always does an amazing job. I can do them but she is a little more proficient at it. Carrie penciled in Steph's brows and then filled and smoothed them with a small brush. Carrie then contoured Stephanie's cheeks and I then I took over again by applying E.L.F. Fuchsia Fusion blush on the apple of her cheeks for a little added color and sparkle. I chose brown and pink eye shadow from my favorite True Blood Tarte palette. I used the light pink shadow on the entire eyelid then applied the brown shadow using an small angled brush in the crease of her eye.

Once her eye shadow was finished I used a Sephora black eyeliner on the lid and on the water line. To finish her eyes we curled her lashes and then used Maybelline Great Lash mascara in black.

To complete her look I lined her lips with a pink NYX liner and filled them in with a butter gloss also by NYX in Eclair.

Complete Look

Hello Beauties!

My sister and I decided to do a complete look based on the outfit chosen today.The matching necklace was made for me by my daughter and the earrings were purchased at Target. The top was purchased at a great little consignment shop in Maricopa. The name of the shop is, Snooze You Lose. The woman who owns the shop is very nice and she keeps her prices reasonable. (Below we posted a link for 50% off one item at her store.)

For the eye shadow I chose aqua and lavender from the NYX Be Free travel pallet along with a cream color under the eyebrow. I also added some pink sparkle to the lid by, Wet and Wild.The foundation is L'Oreal BB cream, which is a favorite of ours. I sealed it with Maybelline shine free lose powder. 

The blush is Fuchsia Fusion by E.L.F. too add some glitter to my cheeks. (E.L.F. is currently having a sale, the link is posted bellow.) The eyeliner is actually an eyeliner marker by NYX. Its wide at the top and ends in a fine point so that you can decide the thickness of your line. On the water line I used a black kohl waterproof liner by Sephora. For my lips NYX Butter Gloss and the color is Eclair. This gloss is very shiny and feel silky on your lips.

I used Great Lash Lots of Lashes mascara on my eyelashes in blackest black. This is currently our favorite mascara. We will be posting about it very soon. To finish off the look I added a pair of glittery eyelashes. Have fun Beauties and mix it up!

With our ensemble we wanted to choose something a little more relaxed. This particular outfit could be worn many different places; the beach, shopping, or just hanging around the house to name just a few. The tank tops could be interchanged very easily by adding a different color or changing the color completely I think this outfit would be even more fun with a big floppy sunhat.You could also wear the tank tops with capris, or even a skirt.

We added a flower that could either be worn in your hair or clipped onto the top for a little added pizazz. I made it by buying some silk flowers from a craft store, added rhinestones (of course...lol) and a clip. Also pictured is a cute pair of stacked sandals which I redesigned by taking off the broken straps and adding rhinestones. If these are too high for your taste, a cute pair of ballet flats, sandals, or even flip flops could also be substituted.

You could stay with the silver necklace or change it up with some color. Another possibility add some chunky plastic bangle bracelets in pink,white, and black. The choices are always yours.

We put this look together with a night on the town in mind. A fun filled evening of dinner, dancing, and maybe even a movie with your girlfriends or significant other. With that in mind we have given two different earring choices. With the necklace we added a splash of color. You could replace it with just about any color even stick with black and silver. 

The stilettos are a lot of fun! I took a $20.00 pair of black suede pumps and added rhinestones to the heels and accented the front as well. I turned an ordinary pair of inexpensive heels into a pair of dazzling shoes. These could rival the ones for which you would pay high dollars. Throw in a rhinestone watch and a black rhinestone clutch and off you go.

If you are not comfortable wearing the shorts they could be substituted for a nice pair of black dressy pants. You decide the choices are yours. Let your imagination and inner sense of style run free!

 If the weather is a little cooler outside or you don't like showing your shoulders you could add a little jacket or a regular white or colored t-shirt underneath the top. If it's hot outside you could wear some shorts or a jean skirt and maybe add a colorful or straw floppy sun hat. The looks and possibilities are endless!

Revlon has exceeded our expectations with their 24 hr colorstay foundation.This has a long lasting formula with medium to full coverage that looks flawless. It was applied with a stippling brush after first using L'Oreal BB cream as a primer. Revlon has created two different types normal/dry or combination/oily. My sister and I chose combination/oily. We both have some issues with the t-zone.

We decided to put this foundation to the test today to see what it was really capable of. Not only did we sweat with it on but we also went swimming. Amazingly enough it stayed put and at 10:00 pm it is still in place. Only our nose has a little shine to it.That is what I call staying power.

Revlon has done a fantastic job with this! If you are looking for a long wearing foundation with medium to full coverage this one is a great choice. If you are not used to wearing foundation it may feel a little heavy at first but the feeling does not last very long. The price is only $9.98 and comes in a 1.0 fluid once bottle. Remember Beauties a little goes a long way.

As you can see from our previous posts, my sister and I really like makeup. One of the enjoyable things about makeup for us is there are so many different looks that can be created and numerous colors to choose from. At the moment we are really enjoying NYX lip gloss. 

If  I am in a hurry and there are only two things I can put on, it would be mascara and lip gloss or lip stick.There are several different types of NYX lip gloss to pick from; butter gloss, soft matte lip cream, plump it up lip plumper, mega shine, and several others they range in price from $4.50-$6.00 each. 

 NYX soft matte lip gloss is a lot of fun and easy to carry around in your purse. When thinking of lip gloss most likely you think of a gloss that is very shiny and sometimes sticky. This is not the case with NYX soft matte lip cream its not really considered a gloss. This particular lip cream is matte, smooth, and moisturizing. It stays on and does not have a sticky feel to it.

The butter gloss is an actual gloss but, like the matte cream its smooth. The butter gloss also has a sweet flavor to it. Each gloss comes with a delicious dessert name and can be worn alone or over your favorite lipstick. When purchasing makeup tools it is very important to pick wisely. Picking a makeup brush is a lot like choosing a paint brush. You would not want a harsh brush whose bristles fall out when painting a masterpiece.Your face is your personal canvas, and with the right tools the result can be flawless.

I just recently purchased this stippling brush and absolutely love it! It can be used it for applying your foundation, or blush the choice is yours. It does not take as much foundation now that I use this beauty tool.Only small amount of foundation is needed on the brush, then dab it all over your face, and blend it in.The brush is soft and gentle to the skin. 

The quality is great and who wouldn't love the hot pink handle? This Real Technique Stippling brush was purchased for $9.99 at ULTA, and so worth it. I know you'll love it as much as I do.

All summer long Forever 21 has their cam's starting at $1.80 a piece. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the tag. My sister and I both really enjoy cami's and at that price you can afford to buy more than one.There are many different looks and uses for them. We like to layer ours or wear them under another top for a different style. They also make a great pajama top. 

These cami's are 95% cotton and 5% spandex for a nice comfortable fit.They come in a wide range of colors that can be mixed and matched. The cami's also come in scoop neck and v neck.

 Forever 21 carries them in small, medium, and large at their store. They can also be purchased on their website. The website is currently having a summer sale and some items are up to 75% off at the time of this posting.

Beauty Tools- Pink Pearl Curling Wand

The Pink Pearl Curling Wand by Remington is one of my favorite hair tools. If you are wanting to add a little bounce to your gorgeous locks for night out on the town, or just for a different look, this beauty tool is amazing! When I curl my hair with this the curl lasts all night and is there the next day. I don't recommend using it all the time  too much heat can damage your hair. Once in a while though  is great!

The wand comes with a glove to protect your hand from the heat because it gets very hot. I use it on the lowest setting and that works for me. If you are going to use the wand at a higher setting it's probably a good idea not to leave it in your hair very long.  I have been using it for a while and no longer use the glove partly because I have miss placed it but, it gets much easier with practice.

This particular curling wand comes in two different sizes the 1/2 inch and the 1 inch. I personally use the 1/2 inch barrel because I like the smaller curls. I would also like to try the 1 inch at a later date.

The Pink Pearl Wand can be purchased at many different locations either at a Brick and Mortar store like Target, ULTA or online. The price ranges from $17.99- $29.99 depending on where you purchase it. At the time of this posting Amazon.com has it for $15.77 plus tax.

NYX Be Free Travel Palette

Ulta and NYX need we say more? This beauty find was purchased at Ulta for $19.99 plus tax and is valued at $125.00. It's great for on the go or even everyday use. This palette is beautifully packaged and contains 25 eye shadows ranging from matte to shimmer for many fun colors to play with. There is an aqua shadow that is my favorite. The palette also contains 3 shades of blush for a little added color to your cheeks and 7 different lip glosses.

The color pigment is fantastic and seems to last all day without creasing. At least we have not experienced any creasing thus far. If your on the go a lot like I am grab your palette, favorite brushes, mascara, foundation, and you are ready to go. You might also want to grab some powder for a finishing touch and the summer heat. The palette can be found at your local Ulta, Ulta online, or NYX cosmetics online.
